You can do the same thing with Actress or new Tractor Cannon but the dilemma with both of those options is you usually have to close the gap and when you have somebody like a good dawn blade or maybe even a good hammer that can maintain a distance from you it is difficult to shut them down. Sleeper Simulant does not have this difficulty.
When using Sleeper Simulant in PvP do not go for the headshot it does not even matter just go for the body. The main disadvantage of this weapon in PvP is you only get two shots and that is it, the advantage is those two shots will be a guaranteed kill as long as you have got quite a decent aim.
Destiny 2 Sleeper Simulant Catalyst Requirements
Sleeper Simulant Catalyst's upgrade is unlocked by completing the following requirements:
- Defeat 1000 enemies with IKELOS_SG_v1.0.1 equipped
- Defeat 1000 enemies with IKELOS_SR_v1.0.1 equipped
- Defeat 2000 enemies with IKELOS_SMG_v1.0.1 equipped
- Loot the Oracle chest in Heroic The Whisper mission
- Defeat 500 enemies using Sleeper Simulant.
Note: The first three requirements do not require kills with the defined IKELOS weapons, they just have to be equipped.

Destiny 2 Sleeper Simulant Catalyst Progress
The shotgun data part of the Sleeper Simulant Catalyst is bugged. It is not progressing with the shotgun received from the new dungeon. Whereas kills with the SMG and Sniper received from the Exodus focused engram is delivering progress to the catalyst.

The possibility that across dozens of prestige Spire of Stars completions you will get the catalyst to drop is low. To decrease your odds, make sure to complete this raid lair on prestige on all three characters, believing you can manage the power requirements and have five other Guardians who are in for that level of commitment.
